Say you have problems with a particular person, someone you might have gotten along with, you try several times to smooth over the arguments and get a bit of a fresh start. However, if that person keeps the problems going and even pretends to want to get along several times but their true colours show eventually, then you just say what the fuckever and dismiss them entirely.
